AsiaSat operates six satellites in geostationary orbit and has one on order. Asiasat-9, under construction by Space Systems Loral of Palo Alto, California, is scheduled for launch by early 2017 aboard an International Launch Services Proton rocket.

2016年2月,此次任务质子火箭在莫斯科通过PDR评审。
AsiaSat has successfully completed the launch vehicle PDR for AsiaSat 9 in Moscow at Khrunichev facility.  AsiaSat 9 will be launched using the upgraded, higher capability Phase IV Proton-M rocket with Breeze M upper stage.  The upgraded Phase IV Proton-M rocket has been qualified to provide a higher performance lift capability for AsiaSat 9. This includes lighter structure, better propellant management and other associated improvements.  The upgraded launch vehicle performance will provide AsiaSat 9 with more fuel margin to exceed the planned in-orbit maneuver life.
During the three party PDR meeting (AsiaSat, the AsiaSat 9 manufacturer Space Systems/Loral and launch vehicle subcontractor Khrunichev Space Center/International Launch Services), all aspects of the launch vehicle design and qualification, spacecraft to launch vehicle interfaces and mission parameters were thoroughly reviewed.  Production schedule of the rocket was reviewed and manufacturing progress demonstrated full compliance to supporting the launch date of AsiaSat 9.

AsiaSat 9 is a Space Systems/Loral 1300E satellite equipped with 28 C-band and 32 Ku-band transponders, and a Ka-band payload. AsiaSat 9 will provide additional capacity, enhanced power and coverage for DTH, video distribution, private networks and broadband services across the Asia-Pacific region. AsiaSat 9 is planned for launch in late 2016/early 2017

不知道,Asiasat 8也是这个措辞
AsiaSat 8 is a new Space Systems/Loral 1300 series satellite equipped with 24 Ku-band transponders and a Ka-band payload.

AsiaSat 9 Satellite Pre-Ship Review (SPSR) was successfully held on 7 Apr 2017 at Space Systems Loral (SSL). SSL presented the performance data of the spacecraft, deep dived into each subsystem. Data was critically reviewed. Apart from this, launch mission and in-orbit-test were also on the agenda. At the end of the review, both AsiaSat and SSL agreed that AsiaSat 9 is ready to ship to the launch site as soon as required. This is a critical milestone of AsiaSat 9 program and opens the new chapter which means AsiaSat 9, one of the most powerful satellites in the Asia-Pacific will be available to serve the region in the near future.

AsiaSat 9 Update - Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR)

What is Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR)?

CATR is an antenna specific test facility widely used on spacecrafts to verify all antenna systems performance. The spacecraft is placed on the positioner which allows the measurement systems within the CATR facility to provide a highly accurate antenna performance. The data collected will be used to compare to specifications for compliance and additional performance margins.


AsiaSat 9 has been successfully moved into the compact antenna test range facility (CATR).
